How clans level up, earn influence, and manage parties.
Clan Management and Influence in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
In Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Denars buy you food and soldiers, but Influence buys you power. As your clan rises from a lowly tier to the rulers of a kingdom, mastering Influence generation is essential for survival.
Influence is the lifeblood of kingdom politics.
What is Influence?
Influence is a unique currency shared by your Clan. It represents your political capital within a Kingdom. Mercenaries earn it to convert into gold, while Vassals and Rulers spend it to:
Summon Armies: Call other lords to follow you.
Vote: Decide who gets a conquered town or which laws are passed.
Diplomacy: Declare war or make peace.
Active Ways to Gain Influence
If you are low on Influence, you need to go out and earn it.
1. Battles
Fighting enemies of the kingdom is the primary source.
The Odds Matter: Winning a battle where you are outnumbered yields significantly more Influence than crushing a small looter party.
2. Donating Prisoners (The Best Method)
This is the secret to infinite Influence.
Capture as many prisoners as you can.
Travel to a town or castle owned by another clan in your kingdom.
Go to the Dungeon -> "Donate Prisoners".
You gain Influence based on the tier and count of prisoners.
Donating high-tier prisoners can net you hundreds of Influence in seconds.
Note: Putting prisoners in your own dungeon gives you nothing but security. Always donate to allies!
3. Donating Troops
Similar to prisoners, you can donate friendly troops to an ally's garrison for Influence. This is useful if you have excess recruits or want to offload rescued prisoners.
Passive Influence Generation
As you reach the mid-to-late game, you want Influence to trickle in automatically.
Policies: If you are a ruler (or can convince one), pass policies like Sacred Majesty (+3/day for ruler) or Council of the Commons (Influence per notable in your towns).
Buildings: Build a Forum in your towns to generate daily Influence.
Perks: The Charm skill has the ultimate perk, Immortal Charm, which gives passive Influence every day. See our Charm Skill Leveling guide.
Spending Influence Wisely
Be careful not to drain your Influence before a critical vote comes up.
Armies: This is your biggest expense. Creating an army costs Influence, and maintaining its Cohesion drains it daily. If you run out, the army disbands. Read Army & Influence Management for efficiency tips.
Voting: Don't vote on everything. Save your Influence for critical moments, like when a town you want is up for grabs, or when someone proposes a policy that hurts you.
Expelling Clans: If a clan is disloyal, you can spend Influence to kick them out—but it's expensive and hurts relations with others.
Mastering the flow of Influence allows you to dominate the Diplomacy & Kingdom Politics of Calradia without ever drawing your sword.
