Advancing clan tiers and unlocking parties/workshops.
Clan Tier Progression: The Road to Power
In Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, your Clan Tier is your status symbol. It tells the world how dangerous you are. Climbing the ranks is essential if you want to field larger armies, own towns, or become a King. This guide breaks down every tier, what it costs, and what it gives you.
Understanding the Grind
You advance tiers by gaining Renown. It is a cumulative bar—you don't spend renown to level up, you just need to accumulate a total amount.
Tier 1: 50 Renown
Tier 2: 150 Renown
Tier 3: 350 Renown
Tier 4: 900 Renown
Tier 5: 2350 Renown
Tier 6: 6150 Renown
Tier 0-1: The Early Game
You start at Tier 0. You are a nobody.
Goal: Hit 50 Renown ASAP.
Unlocks at Tier 1:
You can become a Mercenary for a kingdom.
Accepted into nobles' halls (sometimes).
+1 Companion slot.
Increased party size (+25).
Strategy: Farm tournaments and hunt looters. Once you hit Tier 1, find a Kingdom leader and sign a mercenary contract to start making real gold.
Tier 2-3: The Vassal Stage
Tier 2 (150 Renown):
Vassalage: You can swear an oath to a King and become a Lord.
Fiefs: You can now own Castles and Towns.
Marriage: Easier to court noble spouses.
+1 Additional Party (Companion led).
Tier 3 (350 Renown):
Create Kingdom: Technically possible here if you meet story requirements, but very hard.
Workshops: Limit increases.
Parties: Can field 3 total parties (including yours).
Strategy: Join a kingdom as a vassal. Join armies to gain huge renown from major battles. Try to get voted as the owner of a newly captured castle.
Tier 4+: The Kingdom Stage
Tier 4 (900 Renown):
Independence: The recommended tier to start your own Kingdom.
Parties: 4 total parties.
Policy Voting: Your influence counts for more.
This is the "end game" entry point. At Tier 4, you have the manpower to form your own Army using just your clan parties (0 influence cost), giving you a roaming force of 400-600 troops.

Fast Tracking
To speed this up:
Perks: Look for the "Famous" perk in the Charm tree (Renown gains +20%).
Battles: Always take fights where you are slightly outnumbered.
Mercenary Work: Being a mercenary allows you to legally fight lords, which gives way more renown than bandits.
