Companion Spawn List: Where to Find the Best Wanderers
Looking for a specific companion? In Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, companions (known as Wanderers) are randomly generated at the start of every new campaign. This means "generic" names like "John the Smith" don't exist. Instead, the game uses a template system based on suffixes (nicknames).
How Spawning Works
The game creates a pool of wanderers when you start a new save. Not every template will spawn in every game. If you can't find a "Spicevendor" in your entire world, you might have been unlucky with the seed. However, new wanderers do spawn slowly over time as old ones die or are removed.
Cultural Origins & Suffixes
The nickname tells you everything about their skills.
Aserai (Desert)
The Golden: High Combat skills. Good for captain roles.
The Spicevendor: The best Trader/Steward in the game. Perfect Caravan leader.
The Hyena: Roguery specialist.
Battania (Forest)
The Healer: Medicine specialist. Essential for early game survival.
The Ragged: Scouting specialist.
The Fian: Bow skill.
Empire (Central)
The Scholar: Engineering specialist.
The Falcon: Tactics specialist. Good for auto-resolving battles.
The Imp: Roguery.
Khuzait (Steppe)
The Swift: Scouting and Riding.
The Fatherless: Combat focused.
Wanderers come from all cultures, bringing their unique equipment and skills to your clan.
Finding Them
You don't need to visit every city blindly.
1. The Encyclopedia (N)
This is the pro method.
Press N to open the Encyclopedia.
Go to Heroes.
Scroll down to Occupation filter and check Wanderer.
You can now see every companion currently in your world.
Click on one to see their stats and, crucially, their Last Seen location (top right).
2. Taverns
Companions physically hang out in the Tavern District of cities. When you enter a town, click "Go to the Tavern District" -> "Visit the Tavern". Hold Left Alt to highlight named characters.
Every major city has a tavern where mercenaries and wanderers rest.
Recruitment Costs
Hiring a companion usually costs between 500 and 2,000 denars. This covers their debt or hiring fee.
Note: They come with equipment, but it's usually low tier. You will need to equip them yourself if you want them to survive.
Use the Encyclopedia's "Track" feature to mark the city where a companion was last seen.
