Engineering Skill Leveling

Leveling Engineering can feel like a grind if you rely solely on building siege camps. However, with the right tactics—specifically in siege defense—you can power-level this skill from 0 to 200+ in a handful of battles.

The XP Formula

You gain Engineering XP from:

1. Construction: Successfully building a siege engine (Campaign Map).

2. Operation: Dealing damage and getting kills with siege engines (Battle Map).

3. Projects: Completing buildings in a settlement (Governor).

The Active Operation method is by far the fastest.

Manually operating a ballista or catapult yields significantly more XP than letting the AI do it.

Method 1: The Siege Defense Farm (Fastest)

This method requires you to wait in a town or castle that is about to be besieged.

1. Break In: Enter the settlement before the siege begins (or break in, sacrificing some troops).

2. Build Engines: Prioritize Fire Onagers or Ballistae.

3. Take Control: When the battle starts, take control of an engine.

4. Target Clusters: Aim for the enemy battering ram or siege towers where troops cluster.

5. Result: You can get 50-100 kills in a single siege, granting massive XP.

Defenders have infinite ammo, allowing you to farm XP until the enemy retreats.

Method 2: The Campaign Loop (Passive)

If you prefer playing the map:

1. Besiege a town.

2. Build 4 Trebuchets.

3. Move each to "Reserve" as soon as it finishes.

4. Once all 4 are done, deploy them to destroy enemy walls.

5. Do not attack. Lift the siege and repeat on another town, or let the engines be destroyed and rebuild them. Note: This is slower and costs influence/food.

Optimizing Your Character

To level fast, you need Intelligence.

• Attribute: Put at least 5-7 points into Intelligence.

• Focus Points: Max out Engineering focus points (5/5).

With high Intelligence and Focus Points, you can learn Engineering at a accelerated rate.

Summary

Don't rely on your companion for everything. If you want to be a master builder, jump on that Fire Onager and rain destruction on your enemies. It’s the most fun you’ll have leveling a skill in Bannerlord.
