Party Speed Optimization: Building the Fastest Army

For the warlord who wants to outrun everyone, "good enough" isn't enough. You want to run down vassal parties, escape entire kingdoms, and cross Calradia in days. Here is how to optimize your party for maximum velocity.

The Perfect Composition: All Cavalry

To achieve the highest base speed, you need 100% mounted troops.

• Best Units: Khuzait Khan's Guard, Vlandian Banner Knights, Aserai Faris.

• Why: Mounted troops have a higher base map speed than infantry-on-horses.

• Culture Choice: Khuzait gives a direct bonus to mounted party speed.

Stacking bonuses is the only way to break the 6.0 speed barrier.

Inventory Discipline

Speed requires sacrifice. You cannot hoard loot.

1. Zero Herd Penalty: Maintain exactly enough horses for your companions and zero pack animals if possible. Or balance it perfectly (1 horse + 1 mule per person).

2. Light Load: Keep your inventory weight well below 50% capacity. Being "Overburdened" is a death sentence for speed runs.

Ruthlessly sell loot and excess horses after every battle.

Essential Skills & Perks

You need a designated Scout (either yourself or a companion) with high skill.

Scouting Perks

• Day Traveler / Night Runner: Boosts speed at specific times.

• Pathfinder: The ultimate speed perk. Increases speed for every skill point above 200.

• Forest Kin: Reduces the penalty for moving through forests (crucial for non-Battanians).

While Leadership helps morale, Scouting is the king of speed.

With an all-cavalry Khuzait party and a level 250+ Scout, you can reach speeds of 6.5 - 7.0, allowing you to catch even small bandit parties and outrun any army in the game.
