How smithing works and how to profit from crafted gear.

Smithing Item Value: How Price is Calculated

Why does one sword sell for 500 denars and another for 50,000? Understanding the math behind item value is key to mastering the Crafting & Smithing Hub.

Value Calculation

The Value Formula

While the exact code changes with patches, the core principle remains: Damage is King.

The game weighs weapon stats to determine price.

  1. Damage Value: A weapon with 120 Swing Damage is worth exponentially more than one with 80.

  2. Tier: Using Tier 4 and 5 parts applies a massive multiplier to the base value.

  3. Weapon Type: Two-Handed Swords, Javelins, and Two-Handed Polearms generally have the highest damage potential, thus the highest value.

Best Parts for Value

When designing a weapon for sale, ignore "Handling" or "Weight" unless it drastically lowers damage.

  • Blades: Look for the "Star Falchion" or "Falx" blades. They have massive swing damage.

  • Polearms: The "Long Glaive" head is a money printer.

  • Javelins: "Harpoon" or "Jereed" heads.

Selecting Parts

Sourcing Materials Cheaply

To maximize profit margin, you need cheap materials. Buying Iron Ore is inefficient.

The Pugio Method: Go to Empire towns. Buy the "Pugio" dagger. It is cheap (~300 denars) but smelts into:

  • 1 Wrought Iron

  • 1 Iron

  • 1 Steel

  • 1 Fine Steel

This is the most cost-effective way to get high-tier materials.

Tribesman Throwing Daggers: Found in Aserai and Khuzait lands. Extremely cheap, smelts into good iron and steel.

Crafting Result Stats

By mastering these input/output values, you can treat Smithing not just as a skill, but as the most profitable business in Economy & Trade Guide.
