Throwing Weapons Guide
In Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, throwing weapons are the ultimate tools for burst damage. Unlike bows or crossbows, they don't require a reload animation that slows you down, and they can shatter shields in a single hit. Whether you are a foot skirmisher or a mounted javelin thrower, this guide covers everything you need to know.
A character equipped with high-tier javelins ready for battle.
Weapon Types
Javelins: The kings of throwing weapons. High damage, decent range. The "Jereed" is particularly famous for its one-shot potential and high sell price when crafted.
Throwing Axes: Excellent against shields. They have shorter range but can be retrieved more easily from fallen enemies or shields.
Throwing Knives: High ammo count but low damage. Good for stunning enemies or finishing off wounded troops, but rarely lethal against heavy armor.
Perks & Skills
The Throwing skill tree transforms these weapons from backup tools to primary killing machines.

Shield Breaker (Lvl 25): Increases damage to shields. Crucial for breaking through shield walls.
Flexible Fighter (Lvl 50): Allows you to use throwing axes/javelins as melee weapons effectively.
Impale (Lvl 250): The ultimate perk. Thrown javelins ignore shields completely, killing the target behind them.
Skirmisher Tactics
1. The Shield Breaker
Use heavy javelins to destroy enemy shields before your infantry engages. A few well-placed throws can leave the enemy frontline exposed.

2. Horse Skirmisher
Ride in circles around the enemy formation (Cantabrian Circle). Throw into their exposed backs or flanks. The speed bonus from riding adds massive damage to your throws.
3. The Opening Volley
If you lead infantry, hold fire until the enemy is within 20 meters. Then unleash a volley of throwing axes or javelins. The sheer burst damage can rout an enemy charge instantly.
