Growing your family, companions, and influence in Calradia.

Clan Management in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Your Clan is your enduring legacy in Calradia. While characters may die, the clan lives on. Managing your members, finances, and influence is the core loop of the game's progression.

Clan Tier Progression Climbing the Clan Tiers is your primary long-term goal.

Clan Tiers and Renown

Your Clan Tier determines your power ceiling. You increase it by earning Renown from battles, tournaments, and quests.

  • Tier 0: Just you.

  • Tier 1: Can become a Mercenary. (+1 Companion, +1 Party).

  • Tier 2: Can become a Vassal. (+1 Companion).

  • Tier 3: Can create a Kingdom (with Dragon Banner).

  • Tier 4: Can create a Kingdom (without Dragon Banner). (+1 Party).

  • Tier 5/6: Massive party size and influence bonuses.

For tips on leveling up fast, see our Farming Renown guide.

Clan Roles

In the Clan tab, you can assign roles to any member of your party (including yourself). This applies their skill bonuses to the whole group.

  1. Quartermaster (Steward): Increases maximum party size and reduces food consumption. This is arguably the most important role.

  2. Surgeon (Medicine): Increases healing rate and chance for troops to be wounded instead of killed.

  3. Scout (Scouting): Increases movement speed and spotting distance.

  4. Engineer (Engineering): Speeds up siege construction.

See our Party Roles Guide for optimal builds.

Expanding: Additional Parties

Once you reach Tier 2, you can send companions out to lead their own parties.

Companion Parties Companion parties act as autonomous patrols and army reinforcements.

  • Cost: You pay their wages.

  • Benefits: They earn Renown for your clan, patrol your lands, and can be summoned to your Army for 0 Influence.

  • Risk: They can be captured. Give them good troops!

Family and Heirs

Your family members are the most loyal assets you have.

  • Spouse: Marry to bring a high-stat noble into your clan. They can lead parties or govern towns.

  • Children: You guide their growth through multiple stages. They inherit your traits and are essential for long playthroughs with death enabled.

  • Siblings: If playing Campaign mode, you start with brothers who are excellent warriors.

Companions

Companions are wanderers you hire from taverns. They fill gaps in your clan's skillset.

  • The Golden / The Swordsman: Combat specialists.

  • The Spicevendor / The Swift: Trade and Caravan leaders.

  • The Healer / The Willowbark: Surgeons.

If you become a King, you can even reward a loyal companion with a fief, turning them into a new Noble Clan under your rule.

Creating New Clans Promoting a companion creates a new vassal clan for your kingdom.
