Leveling your Clan Tier fast.
Farming Renown
In Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Renown is the currency of fame. It is distinct from Influence and Money. Renown directly levels up your Clan Tier, which unlocks the game's most critical features: larger parties, more companions, vassalage, and eventually, kingship.
Reaching Clan Tier 4 is the gateway to starting your own kingdom.
Why You Need Renown
Clan Tier 1: Become a Mercenary.
Clan Tier 2: Become a Vassal.
Clan Tier 4: Create a Kingdom.
Party Size: Each tier increases your max party size significantly.
Early Game Farming (Tier 0-2)
1. The Tournament Circuit
The safest and most consistent way to farm renown early is Winning Tournaments.
Reward: +3 Renown per win (base).
Strategy: Travel between major towns. Check the Arena menu to see if a tournament is active. Bet on yourself to make money while you farm fame.
Dominate the arena to make your name known before you have an army.
2. Bandit Hideouts
Clearing Bandit Hideouts is tough but rewarding.
Duel the Boss: Always accept the duel at the end. Winning the duel grants extra renown compared to letting your troops fight him.
Mid-Late Game Farming (Tier 3+)
1. Fighting Against Odds
The renown calculation heavily favors the underdog.
The Math: Defeating 50 looters with 50 troops gives very little renown (~1-2). Defeating 50 elite soldiers with 30 troops can give 15-30 renown.
Strategy: As a Mercenary, bait enemy lords into attacking you in favorable terrain (like a bridge or village) where you can win despite being outnumbered.
Great victories against superior numbers are the stuff of legends—and the fastest way to Tier 6.
2. Perks
Several perks boost renown gain:
Charm: Self Promoter (+3 Renown for winning tournaments).
Throwing: Long Reach (Renown gain from battles increased).
Leadership: Various perks increase renown from leading armies.
Summary
Don't grind looters forever. To become a legend, you must take risks. Fight in the arena, clear out dens, and eventually, challenge the great lords of Calradia.
